Pancakes

I don't like to cook. Just last night I told G as I was cleaning up the mess from dinner that I would be happy if we ate out every meal - I just don't like any part of cooking.

Despite my feelings, this morning I decided to cook the kids breakfast. They were skeptical - you see I never (or very rarely) cook breakfast. We have been out of school for 5 days and I thought they deserved something more than cold cereal so I offered to make pancakes. This is how that went:

B - Do you even know how to cook pancakes?
Me - Of course I do!
B - I mean the way daddy does. You know with Bisquick.
Me (a little frustrated) - Yes, I know how to cook pancakes with Bisquick. Here I will show you.
B (with a serious look of doubt on this face) - well, OK, I guess..

Long story short: The pancakes turned out great and both boys were impressed! The highest compliment I received was "they're almost as good as daddy's"! Not bad for my first attempt in a long time to make pancakes. I may even try some other breakfast treats this summer (but I doubt it:).

Happy Friday!

Baseball season

Well, we may not have been the most successful team on the baseball diamond, but we sure had a good time. The boys were sad to see the season end and they were unable to try out for all stars since we have many plans for summer vacations and you can't do both. (I really think that is a ridiculous statement to say at age 7 and/or 8 you have to pick between summer fun and baseball...but I will leave that for another post!

In the meant time I wanted to share these end of the year pictures.

We really did have the nicest coaches around! They were amazing and had a great deal of fun with all the boys on the team. Until fall ball rolls around...

School's out for....SUMMER

I don't know that I have ever been more ready for summer. As the boys get older and older I realize that our relaxing days at home and at the pool are coming to an end. I will blink my eyes and they will be hanging out with friends, completely uninterested in me. With that in mind, I am trying to really have a good time with them this year and actually get in the pool to play! (Of course, I still take a book and/or magazine with me!) It has only been 4 days, but this has been a great week! We have played, laughed, read books and just enjoyed one another. Apparently I can really be "cool summer mom". We will see how long this lasts!
